Four Tennis Officials Sanctioned for Match Fixing by ITIA

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has issued fines and bans against four officials for violating the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP), with sports betting fraud being a motive for their manipulative behavior.

Manipulated Results and Delayed Reporting

Edvinas Grigaitis, Givi Khudoiani, Arsen Movsisyan, and Manuel Sperger were found guilty of match fixing in tennis. Grigaitis is banned for three years for late or manipulated data reporting during official tournaments, while Khudoiani and Movsisyan worked together to manipulate games and received bans of 14 and 5 years, respectively. Sperger, who was previously convicted in Austria, accepted a 7.5-year ban for match manipulation.

What is the ITIA?

The ITIA, established in 2021, aims to promote, enhance, and protect the integrity of professional tennis globally. It replaced the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) and is responsible for imposing sanctions on players, officials, and referees to prevent doping, corruption, and match fixing in tennis.

The sanctioned officials are prohibited from participating in any ITIA-organized tennis events, including ITF, ATP, and WTA tournaments, for the duration of their bans. The ITIA’s continued efforts to maintain the integrity of tennis, along with enhanced tournament monitoring by the ATP in collaboration with Sportradar, demonstrate a commitment to combating corruption in the sport.
