Mirage Hotel & Casino Closure in Las Vegas

The legendary Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is set to close on the Las Vegas Strip in July 2024 after 34 years of operation. Hard Rock International (HRI) will transform the Mirage into the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas (HRHCLV) and has already begun construction.

Transformation to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

• Hard Rock International will close the Mirage Hotel & Casino on July 17, 2024, to commence the transformation into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas (HRHCLV).
• The Mirage was acquired by Hard Rock in 2022 from MGM, with construction approval granted on March 22, 2023.
• Development plans include a 213-meter guitar-shaped hotel complex on the Las Vegas Strip, scheduled to open in May 2027 with 3,600 hotel rooms and a 174,000-square-meter casino area.

Impact on Employees and Culinary Union

• The Mirage employees will receive a total of $80 million in severance packages, and up to 2,500 construction jobs will be generated by the transformation.
• Former Mirage employees will have full union protection during the three-year closure period, as confirmed by the Culinary Union secretary and treasurer, Ted Pappageorge.
