A couple from Florida experienced a nightmare after winning $3,000 at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. On their way home, they were followed, robbed, and shot by attackers.

Surveillance Footage Captures the Violence

Kim Chambliss and Val Delacruz, on August 2, 2024, visited the casino for a relaxed evening. Delacruz hit the jackpot on a slot machine, winning $3,000. Unaware of being followed, they celebrated briefly before heading home.

Upon arrival, they were ambushed by two masked men, demanding their winnings and belongings. Delacruz attempted to flee but was shot in both legs. The attackers also stole their wallets, jewelry, and Delacruz’s watch.

Victims Barely Survive

A neighbor called the police after the attackers fled. Delacruz, losing a significant amount of blood from a leg wound, was treated by officers who applied a tourniquet, potentially saving his life. Recovery could take up to six months, leaving him unable to work and facing hefty medical bills.

Chambliss expressed feeling unsafe in their once secure home and neighborhood, shaken by the traumatic event.
